  19. This is a great site. Our son is serving in Hawaii right now. He bought his uke a couple months ago and asked for uke tabs for hymns. So we are grateful to have found your site. The prospect of downloading the individual files is a little daunting, though (since he does not have access to the electronic versions we have to print them for him). Is there any chance you could post a master file with all of the tabs to date? If not, we will continue downloading the individual files. Thanks for all of the work you have done. Perhaps he can touch the heart of someone using your tabs on the uke.

    2. So I played around a little bit with the song, and used this cool tuning app to kind of verify the chords. This song is actually super easy up until the bridge. The first chords are going to be F, G, Am, G, in first position as you can hear in the intro. It sounds like the strum is simply up, down, up, down, etc starting on an up strum. In teh chorus there is a C chord that starts the progression but otherwise follows the same progress. You can play around with it a bit. Hope that helps!

  106. Will these chords work for baritone ukulele as well?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. they should. chords should be able to be straight up transferable. however, the tabs (or the picking parts) are not. that would depend on how your uke is arranged. there is like re-entry ukes and other ways to organize the strings. mine is G-C-E-A. so it is re-entry. but a C chord is always a C chord. C-E-G. but your strings may be non-reentry and then you would need different chord structures.

  110. Love this list. I am a super beginner. I understand the letters above the lyrics but I have 2 questions. 1) how do i interpret the TAB line with numbers and 2) how do I know the strumming patterns to use?

Thank you for all of your hard work and answering what may be goofy questions .

    1. TAB line numbers show you which fret to press while picking that string. the bottom line on the tab is the top string of the uke. strumming patterns are up to you. there are countless patterns. just google your fav and try out lots of different stuff.

  114. Hi again. Could I request the "Kindness Begins with Me" primary song (Childrens Songbook, page 145b)?

Also, I'd love to learn how to use Lillypond to help with this effort of transposing songs to the Ukulele. Maybe send me a message and I'll get you my email or however works best for you.

As always, thanks for all you do.

  116. Can you do Kanaka Wai Wai? The song is about the young rich man that came to Jesus to ask what he needed to do to have eternal life, and Jesus said to sell everything and follow him, but the rich man went away because he had many possessions.

The story behind the writing of the song was when the church came to Hawaii they wanted Hymns in Hawaiian. John Almeida wrote the song at the request of one of the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Hawaiian hymns, though it did not end up included in the Hawaiian hymnal.
